This program is designed for boys and girls ages 4, 5, & 6 This program does not focus on Martial Arts techniques, but rather it teaches young children how to interact in a group experience through the life skills training. Life skills are the standards by which we live in order to be good people. Examples of Life Skills are: Honesty, Patience, Focus, Kindness, Respect, Commitment, Leadership and Compassion. Tiger Tots also learn about fitness and basic technique through a playful, game-like experience. Instructor interaction with the children is based upon Positive Dialogue Response method, so that the children will always feel successful, even if disciplined. Our instructors understand the enormous responsibility that comes with teaching children. You can affect a child for the rest of his/her life by anything you say, depending upon how and when you say it. Time Proven Training Methods Karate defensive and offensive techniques taught as part of the Tiger Tots program have been adapted from the oldest Korean system of self-defense: Tang So Do - Moo Duk Kwan. This style of Karate can be traced back over 900 years. Students in our classes learn physical conditioning, develop positive mental attitudes and achieve a high level of confidence in themselves. Tiger Tots training focuses on teaching children to be respectful and non-violent. Often young children tend to mimic the fighting scenarios they see on TV and in the movies. Our training teaches the children to respect boundaries by appreciating their own strength, and to be careful about how and when they use their power. We uplift the child while teaching the limitations and responsibility of their Martial Arts training. This program is one of those rare formats in which a child may develop using their mind, body and spirit. Class Structure Children want a routine. When you repeat
this structure week after week, they start to feel safe
since they know what's coming. They look forward to each
segment. Each class last for a period of 50 minutes and
is broken down into 10 minutes segments : Line
Up/Stretches, Basic Techniques, Games/Equipment, Animal
Cards and Obstacle Course. Achievement Belts The Tiger Tots program does NOT involve any form of sparring or fighting. Instead the children learn Life Skills, body positions, defensive techniques and offensive techniques. Periodically the children are tested in these four areas and are awarded belts and/or belt stripes based upon their achivements.
